Regular Checkups
Scheduling regular checkups with our children’s dentist in Wilmington are essential to maintaining your child’s oral health. We recommend regular checkups at least every six months because your dentist can:
- Find early signs of decay
- Check for problems that you might not see or feel
- Treat oral health problems early, while they are still manageable
Regular checkup appointments typically take 20-40 minutes which will include thorough cleaning and an oral exam. During the oral exam, our dentist will check the health of your child’s mouth, teeth, gums and tongue.
We also provide additional dental services for your child including dental sealants, extractions, and mouth guards. Please visit our Services page for a complete list of offered solutions.
Your Child’s First Visit
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child is seen by 6 months after his/her first tooth erupts or by 1 year old, whichever is first.
Your child’s first visit to the doctor will typically include an x-ray that allows the doctor to view the structure of the jaw, the position of any teeth that have not yet erupted, malformed roots, and tooth decay. The first visit will also include a review of your child’s medical history. With this information, our doctor will be able to select the safest and most effective method of treatment for your child.
Consultation
After our doctor has completed the examination and evaluated your child’s records, he will discuss your child’s diagnosis and any follow up treatment with you in detail. The cost of your child’s treatment will be discussed with you by the business assistants.
